Effects of Lumbar Manipulation Spinal in Patients with Pain Caused by a Lumbar Disc Herniation: A Systematic Review

Background: herniated disc usually presents pain accompanied with paresthesia and loss of muscle strength,causing limitations in the activities daily life. Among therapeutic strategies aimed at obtaining animprovement symptomatology, highlights Osteopathic manipulation.Methods: 11 computerized databases were consulted. Regarding eligibility criteria, only articles therandomized controlled clinical trial type included. The tool for assessing risk bias was one proposedby Cochrane.Results: A total 3 randomized trials selected considered low bias. resultsshowed an improvement all variables measured experimental group osteopathic manipulation.However, greater study that underwent surgery.Conclusions: lumbar manipulation spinal is effective technique to improve symptomatology painoriginating from a disc. None participants had adverse reactions their outcomeimproved significantly short long term. Nevertheless, studies obtained limited number.
